Stove News :- Optimus spare parts problems
#207 Adjustable burners update:-
General News :-
Please note; We are working hard to
clear the backlog of orders. Please do not telephone to chase your
order unless you sent or telephoned it over 7 days ago. Ten minutes
on the telephone looking up an order sent only last week will prevent
two more customers from getting their parts on time..!
Our answer phone gets constantly blocked with messages, please browse
the Website before calling as you may find your answer there. We receive
so many calls asking 'I have looked at your Website, do you sell Tilley
or Primus parts?'.....!
Remember to keep spares handy for emergencies, we still have customers
who phone an order on a Wednesday because they are going away on
Saturday! Order your spares now, don't wait until the last minute and
expect the parts by the next day...!
Please check our opening
hours before trying to contact
us, the answer phone also gets jammed full of empty
messages when callers hang up after calling when we are
out of the office.
'Newark light up' :-
We will be traveling
up to Newark on the afternoon of Thursday 3rd June and returning on
Sunday 6th June. We will therefore be closed from 12.30pm on Thursday
3rd until we re-open at 11.00am on Monday 7th.
Please do not telephone between these times as it will just block the
answer phone up.
Mike 'the stove'..News :-
Mike is almost
back to normal and working hard on the physio to get up to full
fitness again.
He will be fully back in action in time for the 'Light up' at Newark in
this month, see you there..!.
Optimus stoves:-
Old models:- more
parts are 'drying up' as supplies disappear, we are always sourcing
original parts or commissioning batches of new parts. Latest 'batches'
are #2180 inner cap & #2183 outer cap for silent burners, #2094
graphite packing and #2116 cone for marine burners.
New models:-
Optimus are experiencing major problems with parts supply for the new,
2009 - on Nova models. The supply chain was not set up before
introduction and many parts, particularly '0' ring seals are very hard
to get.
We have been working hard since September 2009 to get exploded views,
part numbers are stocks of parts but we are unlikely to have full
coverage before August. We have small stocks of seals to back up the
stoves we have sold but replacement hoses, pumps and valves are still
a problem.

Adjustable paraffin burners:-
We have been
testing what we hoped would be the last samples of burners but have
encountered a further problem that needs attention. We asked for the
tooling to be changed at the top of the burner to incorporate 'tabs'
to prevent the outer cap from moving if the burner was used in a
marine application. This has been done but the new tool has the
punching for the air hole too close to the edge of the outer cap
causing small flames under the cap.
We have asked for this to be rectified but it will require another
testing phase before we can o.k. production. We cannot authorise
production until we are totally satisfied that the burners are of best
quality.
